Three-time Grammy winner St. Vincent in Slovenia for the first time! At her only gig in our region, the patron saint of eclectic guitar originality and Bowiesque sonic transformations, one of the most important musicians of our time, will present her seventh album Daddy's Home, already a frontrunner for album of the year.

Yes, you read that correctly, one of the most important musicians of our time – and definitely one of the most singular ones as well. Annie Clark, a one-time touring musician for Sufjan Stevens, began her career as St. Vincent in 2006. Following a run of excellently received solo albums (Marry Me (2007), Actor (2009), Strange Mercy (2011)) and the acclaimed collaborative release Love This Giant (2012) with the iconic David Byrne (Talking Heads), her self-titled fourth album took the top spot on more or less every referential album of the year chart in 2014 and made her only the second female solo artist ever to take home the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album. Her 2017 follow-up Masseduction won two Grammy Awards, but what's even more impressive is how St. Vincent never relied on tried-and-true formulas in her success, while also blazing a trail in the field of gender issues.

The musician, who names famed musical chameleons Kate Bush and David Bowie among her inspirations – the latter's pianist even played on her debut album –, heads in a new stylistic direction with every new album. Within the broader framework of pop and rock music, she weaves her characteristic mezzo-soprano and masterful guitar melodies through various genres, from the noise pop of St. Vincent to the new-wave-inspired futuristic pop of Masseduction, for example. Her range and variety are also evident from her long list of collaborators, which includes not only pop stars such as Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa, but also the musically more distant Nirvana, Swans, Metallica or Nina Kraviz.

Her latest album Daddy's Home, released in May 2021, is again characterised by a musical shift, this time towards the grimy funk and soul sounds of 1970s New York. With her usual wit and sincerity, the artist again tackles sensitive personal topics, primarily the release of her father, convicted of stock exchange fraud, from prison, and again reaped praise from reviewers. The Needle Drop even declared the album her strongest work since Strange Mercy, which is quite an achievement considering the above-mentioned competition. St. Vincent has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that even in the extraordinary world of 2021, she is at the very top when it comes to uniqueness. We're certain her first visit to Šiška in June 2022 will underline this even further, and considering it will be her only performance in our region, we advise you to secure your ticket as soon as possible.
