From 21-22 April 2018, around 300 competitors from all over the world will descend the 1.8 km of paths and lookouts of the island of vitality, taking part in an extreme bike race in the World Cup – Downhill Lošinj.


Extreme mountain bike race or Downhill, which stemmed from spring training of Slovenian cyclists, and nowadays is considered as a reputable international race with full support from the Town of Mali Lošinj, Jadranka d.d., Tourism Board of the Town of Mali Lošinj, and Ministry of tourism of the Republic of Croatia.

There are over 250 km of scented paths and promenades on the Island of Vitality, and challenging obstacles in forests appeal to many hikers and cyclists. Considering the increasing trend of cycling around the world, Lošinj will definitely take an important spot on the bike friendly map.


 


Track






The track starts at the top of the St. John (Sveti Ivan) hill above Veli Lošinj, and finishes right by the sea in the center of town.



  • Length: 1.3km

  • Height difference: 240m

  • Point of departure altitude:: 245m

  • Condition: open for testing until 31st of March 2017, however, we are working on new sections and modifications so please contact us before visiting!

  • Lift time to summit: 15 - 20 minutes

  • Spectator access: along the track with entry ticket (hiking shoes are highly recommended)


The track is short but rough and rocky, with several big drops and jumps and a unique street section. With provisonal changes and features for the Mercedes Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, it is estimated to be around the 2 min 40 sec mark for the fastest downhill racers in the world.






Parking and spectator access






Parking for spectators will be in Mali Lošinj (public parking used for Mercedes Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup) and there will be a shuttle Bus system wich will be free for ticket holders. It will operate on a route from Mali Lošinj to Veli Lošinj. The service will run on Saturday and Sunday. All shuttle buses will be clearly marked and will run continuously until all spectators have left the World Cup Village after racing.


Most of the course is accessible although the lower (street) section has restrictions (access only for UCI, RBMH, Media and OC).
