Event details
Radgona-based rapper Leopold I., accompanied by his band Drügi, will headline Kino Šiška for the first time, debuting music from their upcoming album Dober den. The concert will also feature numerous musical and rap colleagues.
FOR FANS OF: Mito, Emkej, Vlado Kreslin …
Leopold I., described by Val 202 as a "witty wordsmith from Radgona, who paints portraits of the everyman in his lyrics, pulls back the curtains of neatly arranged rural houses with fluorescent facades, and peeks into the plates of seemingly perfect families after Sunday mass," first introduced himself to the Slovenian music scene in 2020 with his hard-hitting track “Nesen”.
In collaboration with producer Vid Turica, he released several singles compiled in the album Dobro jütro. The release of the record was accompanied by the carefree, upbeat track “Kinderšpil”, which received widespread public acclaim. With the support of his newly formed band Drügi, Leopold I. continued to release songs and made an appearance on Izštekani 10 – A Tribute to Vlado Kreslin, where his storytelling skills shone through with his cover of “Tista zakartana ura”.
Leopold I.'s music remains genre-diverse, blending multiple styles and themes, ranging from personal and introspective to entertaining and socially critical, and often carrying political messages. This year, he is set to release his second album, Dober den, which he will present in a vibrant evening at Šiška, coloured with the melos of his home region. Of course, the concert will also feature the tracks that paved his musical journey from the noisy cellars of Radgona to stages across Slovenia.
Organisation: Kino Šiška.
